Glen Garioch re-launches its range of single malts

Glen Garioch, the 200-year old Aberdeenshire-based distillery, has re-launched its range of single malt whiskies.

Two expressions form the core of Glen Garioch’s ‘renaissance range’, while small-batch vintage expressions will be release on a staggered basis.

John Mullen, Glen Garioch brand manager at Morrison Bowmore Distillers, said: “Glen Garioch will appeal to knowledgeable, discerning single malt enthusiasts looking to broaden their repertoire.”

The new releases are available to the on and off-trade, including travel retail, with sales projected by Glen Garioch to reach 16,000 cases per year by 2014.

The entry-level expression 1797 Founder’s Reserve, is a bourbon-matured blended single malt, bottled at 48% ABV, with a retail value of £29.99.

Glen Garioch 12-Year Old is the brand’s second core release. A blended single malt matured in both bourbon and sherry casks, it is bottled at 48% ABV and retails at £36.99.

The first of Glen Garioch’s small-batch vintage expressions dates to an era predating the distillery’s 1993 move to a non-peated style. The 1991 is peat-smoked, bourbon-matured, bottled at 54.7% ABV and retails at £64.99.

Glen Garioch is a Morrison Bowmore Distillers brand, distributed in the UK by Cellar Trends.
