The gargantuan whisky smashed Jack Daniel’s world record for a bottle of whisk(e)y set last year, which stood at 184 litres.

A Guinness World Record adjudicator awarded the bottle the title in front of a crowd at the brand’s 107^th birthday celebrations on Sunday August 12.

The bottle stands at five feet, five inches tall and, according to The Edrington Group, holds the equivalent of 9,120 drams of whisky.

It will now be displayed at the brand’s visitor centre, The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery - which is also celebrating a birthday having been open for ten years.

Replicas will be displayed, one in Amsterdam Schiphol Airport during September and October, and one at London Heathrow Terminal 3 for a month from September 17.

The bottle has travelled over 1,200 miles from Svetla, a town near Prague, where it was handmade by Czech glass manufacturers Bomma.

Glen Gribbon, director of The Famous Grouse at The Edrington Group, said: “We are so thrilled to bring this record to the home of scotch whisky and are relieved that it’s now official – we have the biggest bottle of whisky in the world!"
