The Glenrothes Sherry Cask Reserve launches

Berry Bros & Rudd Spirits has released The Glenrothes Sherry Cask Reserve to its key global markets.

It is the first time the Speyside malt has been aged entirely with first-fill sherry casks.

The London company reports that ex-sherry casks are five times more expensive than ex-bourbon casks but that the expression's sherry cask aging was worth the expense as it gives a deeper flavour.

The recommended retail price for The Glenrothes Sherry Cask Reserve is £55 (€65/NT$2,000) per bottle.

Sherry Cask Reserve is matured predominantly in European oak, which, according to Berry Bros “delivers a greater array of flavours than the American equivalent and, in particular, the resinous and dried fruit character underpinning the sherry top notes”.

Ronnie Cox, brands heritage director, said: “The texture is deliciously creamy, a hallmark of The Glenrothes, which develops into a kaleidoscopic rainbow of soft spicy and fruity flavours on the palate, balanced in perfect harmony with lingering overtones of sherry and Spanish oak.”
