Roskrow shortlisted for Fortnum & Mason award

Drinks International’s regular spirits writer Dominic Roskrow has been short-listed for a coveted Fortnum & Mason Food and Drinks Award for work carried out for Drinks International.

Roskrow  has been short listed for Drinks Writer of the Year. He normally specialises in writing about whisky, but was short listed for two non-whisky features he wrote for Drinks International in 2014 - one on absinthe, and one on flavoured spirits.

The awards celebrate the very best writing and broadcasting on food and drink and attract the cream of the industry.  A record number of more than 400 entries across 12 categories, mainly from national consumer newspapers and magazines.

The short list of three for Drinks Writer of the Year was chosen by an expert panel of judges including Bee Wilson, Lucas Hollweg, Monica Galetti, Nina Caplan, Russell Norman and Tim Atkin MW. It was chaired by Fortnum & Mason chief executive Ewan Venters

Roskrow said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have been short listed in what are the industry’s most prestigious awards. I was short listed two years ago and it’s enough just to attend the awards evening with the country’s best loved food and drink writers and television personalities.

“I’m particularly pleased that I have been short listed for work in Drinks International and for subjects outside my normal comfort zone. I’m proud to have contributed to what is an excellent editorial product.”

The awards will be presented by Striclty Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman on Thursday, May 21, at the flagship store on London’s Piccadilly.
