Pantiru wins Elit's Art of Martini London final

Andrei Pantiru has been named the London winner of Elit luxury vodka’s Art of Martini cocktail competition.

Pantiru, bar manager from 14 Leicester Square Bar, impressed judges at Oriole Bar, London with his 39.02° N cocktail, a ‘creative take’ on the Martini.

The inspiration behind Pantiru’s creation was taken from the Elit bottle and island of Ibiza where the competition’s finalists will be taken for winning the competition. The cocktail’s unusual name references the white island’s latitude coordinates, the relative angle of the bottle and the delicate balancing of flavours within the drink.

Brent Lamberti, judge and Elit brand ambassador, said: “Andrei’s presentation and cocktail name were very original. We liked his use of ingredients, inspired by Ibiza, and all that lead to a very thought-provoking cocktail. Andrei also demonstrated a dual serve, showing the cocktail shaken and then stirred, which led to two very different experiences.”

Pantiru added: “The concept behind my serve was to showcase balance and contrast, including shaken and stirred, wet and dry, sweet and sour, soft and strong, longitude and latitude.”

The international city-based competition spanned over three months, across more than 60 cities around the world. The winning finalists from each city win a trip to the Elit Ultra Luxury Vodka Ibiza Weekend.
