AB InBev acquires Atom Brands

AB InBev subsidiary company, ZX Ventures has purchased Atom Group for an undisclosed fee.

ZX Ventures is a British company which said it intends to increase its e-commerce performance and boost global operations through the acquisition of Atom Group, which is made up of Master of Malt, Maverick Drinks and its own portfolio of spirits brands.

Atom Brands’ portfolio includes the Ableforth’s range, That Boutique-y Whisky Company, and Mr Lyan.

Justin Petszaf, managing director of Atom Group, said: “We’ve always been a technology-focused business, building our e-commerce platform from scratch to give consumers the best experience possible and we recognised a kindred spirit in ZX Ventures, in its mission to innovate, grow and answer new consumer demands.

“We can’t wait to supercharge our business with ZX Ventures and share our tech expertise with their team as well.”

It has been reported that the management team at Atom Group will remain the same, however Master of Malt has halted shipping to the US.

In a letter to wholesalers, AB InBev vice president of business and wholesaler development, Bob Tallett wrote: “Our goal is to transition all Atom Brands to our wholesaler system wherever possible.”

AB InBev isregarded as the largest brewing company on the planet, producing Budweiser, Corona and Stella Artois.

Tallett added:“AB InBev is first and foremost a beer company and we will continue to work nonstop to elevate the beer category, striving to provide the best experiences possible for the beer community.

“While ZX Ventures invests in diverse products beyond beer, we remain unwavering in our support and commitment to the 3-tier system for beer in the U.S.”
