Premium bourbon Maker’s Mark has been named as the official bourbon of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

Scheduled to run between 25 Sept and 10 Oct this year at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, it will be the first time the Equestrian Games have been held outside Europe.

“Bourbon and horses are a natural pair – especially in Kentucky where their histories run deep,” said Bill Samuels Jr., president and chief executive of Maker’s Mark.

Thousands of horse and bourbon enthusiasts from around the world will visit the event’s main hospitality tent, which will be sponsored by Maker’s Mark and will include a “world of bourbon” feature and a wide variety of bourbon brands.

Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear, wife of state governor Steve, noted: “Bourbon is a part of the fabric of Kentucky and Maker’s Mark is a world-class spirit. It’s only fitting that they are part of this international event that showcases our wonderful Commonwealth.”
