Ireland: Diageo to cut 107 jobs

17 June, 2009

Global drinks giant Diageo plans to cut 107 jobs in Ireland as part of a bid to save £100m.

The majority of the jobs under review are at the St James’s Gate Guinness brewer in Dublin, with a further 12 cuts in Northern Ireland. The jobs cuts will be in marketing and various business support roles.

Diageo Ireland chairman Brian Duffy said: "Today’s announcement to reduce employment was extremely hard to make and follows months of careful analysis and consideration. The decisions taken today are the necessary steps to maintain a sustainable competitive business in Ireland.”
