Taylor’s launches Very Very Old Tawny Port

Taylor’s has announced the launch of VVOP, the latest in a series of limited releases and one of the oldest wines released by the producer to date.

The blend is made from a selection of lots matured in Taylor’s cellars, some of which date back to before the Second World War.

“Experiencing the Taylor’s VVOP is a rare privilege,” said Adrian Bridge, managing director of Taylor’s.

“Drawn from Taylor’s treasury of very very old cask-aged reserves, this VVOP confirms Taylor’s place as a leader in the production of the finest cask-aged ports of great age.”

Taylor’s head winemaker, David Guimaraens added: “The Taylor’s VVOP represents the legacy of ancestral knowledge passed down from one generation to the next - the skill of Taylor’s practised team of coopers, who crafted the casks and maintained them over the years, the expertise of the cellar masters, who cared for the wine during the decades in wood, and the art of the blenders, who have given the VVOP its exceptional balance and finesse.”

Only 3000 bottles of Taylor’s VVOP, which will be presented in a bespoke decanter, have been produced. It will be available in select specialist retailers at the rrp of £750.
