Bordeaux's Château Bernadotte sold to Chinese group

Château Bernadotte from the Haut-Medoc, Bordeaux, has been acquired by Hong Kong group King Power Group from Louis Roederer.

Bought by the champagne house’s Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in 2007, Château Bernadotte’s sale price has not been disclosed.

The chateau’s wine has Cru Bourgeois status and produces around 200,000 bottles per year  in the Haut-Medoc AOC appellation in Saint-Sauveur.

King Power Group operates across food and beverage, property investment and leasing, leisure and health services, manufacturing, sports, leisure and health services, brand ownership and retail services.

Its activies include more than 500 retail outlets worldwide, and is a leader in duty free stores.

Gide Loyrette Nouel advised King Power on the acquisition. The company also advised Chinese agri-business group, COFCO, with its acquisition of Château de Viaud in 2011 and Domaines Baron de Rothschild on a partnership with Chinese bank, CITIC, in the Shandong region, for the launch of a local fine wine.

Champagne Louis Roederer was advised by Wine Bankers & Co and Fidal Bordeaux.
