Brown-Forman pumps $100m into Jack Daniel's

Brown-Forman has announced a $100m-plus investment into its Jack Daniel Distillery, despite relatively flat volume sales of its original Jack Daniel's whiskey.

The Tennessee whisky producer claims to have grown net sales for the Jack Daniel's family by 9% last year but volumes of its flagship variant stood almost still at 10.7m 9-litre cases, an increase of just 1% on 2011 (The Millionaires’ Club 2013).

The expansion, which will begin this autumn and will be completed within two years, will see the addition of stills, barrel warehouses and related infrastructure.

Around 90 additional full-time jobs will be created over the next five years.

Jeff Arnett, master distiller, Jack Daniel Distillery, said: “The expansion will help Jack Daniel’s continue to bring our distinctive, charcoal-mellowed whiskey to the world.”
