Pimm’s No.6 Vodka Cup to make summer return
Diageo will re-launch Pimm’s No.6 Vodka Cup in the UK next summer in response to a campaign to reinstate the spirit drink.
Following the decision to delist Pimm’s No.6 Vodka Cup, fans got in touch with Diageo as stocks ran low, calling for the spirit drink to be reinstated, said the company.
According to Diageo consumers flooded the Pimm’s team with emails, social media posts and letters calling for a comeback.
Joanna Segesser, senior brand manager at Pimm’s, said, "We take consumer feedback to heart, and we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for Pimm’s No. 6 Vodka Cup. Pimm’s is an iconic British brand and we are delighted to be able to listen to the British public’s request to re-launch Pimm’s Vodka Cup.”
Ian Faul, secretary at the City of London Club, members of which were part of the campaign, said: “The Club Members, along with the legions of Pimm’s Vodka Cup fans will, I’m sure, be absolutely delighted to learn that Diageo have chosen to bring back this extremely popular drink.
“In this ever changing modern world, it’s reassuring to know that some institutions and traditions will be maintained and Vodka Pimm’s is a perfect example of a tradition that should never end! Roll on summer 2015!”
Originally launched in 1964, Pimm’s Vodka Cup was the sixth variety of Pimm’s to hit shelves across the UK. Originally, Pimm’s No.6 was known as a “Vodka Sling”, just as No.1 was termed a “Gin Sling”. Today No.6 is known as a “Vodka Cup”.
