World Gin Day plays 'important role' for brands

World Gin Day is no longer just a consumer-focused activation, but a serious opportunity for brands to grow sales according to a Roku Gin representative.

This year World Gin Day takes place on Saturday June 9 and gin brands across the world will be out in force to show off their products to consumers.

Yo Tang, House of Suntory brand ambassador, who looks after Roku Gin, said: “There’s no denying gin’s continued popularity over the last few years – not just within the UK, but globally too.

“Whilst this popularity continues to increase all-year round, World Gin Day certainly plays an important role in further raising its profile.”

Although London is leading the way with the first ever World Gin Day festival, countries across every continent from New Zealand to Sweden are celebrating the occasion.

Other cities are hosting their own sub-versions of the event for example World Gin Day Manchester, where Manchester Gin will play a key role within different bars throughout the city.

Manchester Gin was launched less than three years ago and now produces 9,000 bottles of its three core varities a month, evidence for the influence of trade shows and activations such as World Gin Day.

Tang added: “Not only does World Gin Day give individual brands the opportunity to communicate their story to consumers, but with different bars offering events and serves to celebrate the day, it also helps raise awareness of alternative gins and serves within the on-trade, in turn increasing sales.”

Roku Gin is a Japanese gin which was launched at the end of 2017 by Beam Suntory and is available globally with RRP £30 and bottled at 43% abv.
