Brands Report 2024: Non-alcoholic spirits

Low and no continues to gain traction, with new players constantly appearing, although the mainstays are as last year.

As the trend of low and no continues, with consumers being more mindful than ever of what they drink and how much, it has become apparent in the world’s best bars.

Over two-thirds of bars polled stocked non-alcoholic spirits, with Lyre’s taking the top spot, up from second place last year. Twenty-four per cent had the brand in the top spot, followed by Seedlip, down from its place as top seller last year, although 23% of bars placed it as their top choice, so it was a close call.

Affirming its place in the global scene, British-founded Lyre’s launched in the Middle East in 2022, and has most recently partnered with DJ David Guetta as its new brand ambassador. Diageo-owned Seedlip, which has been around since 2014, was a pioneer in the category and remains an authority for non-alc in bars.

Both brands are battling it out in the top space as leaders, however two different approaches are at play. Lyre’s range includes a variety of non-alcoholic spirit alternatives, from gin to vermouth, while Seedlip has a core range of three expressions – Garden 108, Grove 42 and Spice 94.

The next top seller is Everleaf, similar in ways to Seedlip as it aims to be its own liquid rather than a gin alternative, for example. The brand has a core range of expressions with Mountain, Forest and Marine.

With Lyre’s taking top spots as both bestseller and trending, it’s clear that bars are seeing continuing demand for non-alcoholic spirits alternatives.

How we did it

The Annual Brands Report results are the culmination of a survey of 100 bars from around the world which have been nominated or won international awards. The report offers a picture of the buying habits of the world’s best bars – not only which brands sell best, but also what’s trending to indicate the brands that are hot right now.
