Pernod Ricard and Russian Standard settle Stoli case
US: Pernod Ricard and Russian Standard Vodka have reached a settlement of claims brought by Russian Standard against Pernod Ricard. According to Pernod Ricard, the dispute revolved mainly around the allegations brought by Russian Standard Vodka and Roust Trading Limited pursuant to which promoting Stolichnaya as "Russian vodka" resulted in false advertising.
The action started in 2006 and Pernod Ricard's statement at the time explained that Stolichnaya Vodka was truly Russian, being distilled and produced in Russia (Tambov in Central Russia and Kaliningrad) using Russian grain and water. It is then shipped in bulk and bottled in Latvia.
A statement from Pernod Ricard said: “The claims in this action have been dismissed with prejudice, without any admission of liability by any party, without payment of money by any party to any other party and without injunctive relief for or against any party or any of its affiliates.”
The claims were brought at the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
