Laphroaig to roll out Triple Wood
Scotch distiller Laphroaig has announced the global roll out of its Triple Wood expression.
The triple matured single malt will launch in September following a period of exclusivity to travel retail.
According to Laphroaig, Triple Wood's maturation proccess is “similar to Quarter Cask" and is the “marriage of peat, oak and sherry notes”.
The expression’s first stage of maturation is in American oak barrels, sourced from parent company Beam Global’s bourbon brand Maker’s Mark.
It is then matured for nine months in 19th century-style quarter casks, before being finished in oloroso sherry oak casks from Jerez.
Laphroaig Triple Wood is non-chill filtered, has an ABV of 48% and will retail from between £40-£50.
John Campbell, Laphroaig’s distillery manager said: “Triple Wood is the most complex flavoured Laphroaig we have ever done”.
