Chivas launches Ballantine’s Signature Distillery Editions

Chivas Brothers has launched two 17-year old Ballantine’s expressions under the new line, Signature Distillery Editions.

Scapa Edition – which is targeted at the Korean market - and Glenburgie Edition– a release for travel retail - are the first two expressions of the series and will be followed by Miltonduff and Glentauchers editions.

The whiskies are intended to highlight the character and influence of each of the scotch blend's major contributing distilleries.

Scapa and Glenburgie carry abvs of 43% and are available for US$69.

Sandy Hyslop, Ballantine’s master blender, said: “Ballantine’s 17 Year Old is a blend of more than 40 different malt and grain whiskies from all over Scotland, but Scapa, Glenburgie, Miltonduff and Glentauchers stand out as having played a monumental role in the blending process of our master blenders over the years.

“These stunning limited editions offer the whisky drinker an insight into blending and the role that these malts play in the original and much-celebrated Ballantine’s 17 Year Old blend.”

According to Chivas, Glenburgie Edition offers “smooth aromas of apples and blackcurrants with a honeycomb sweetness whilst maintaining the soft, elegant and balanced style of Ballantine’s”, while Scapa Edition is “bursting with a zesty, fruit sparkle of sweet orange and peach flavours but remains incredibly smooth, creamy and luxurious”.
