Glenfiddich joins The Millionaires' Club
Glenfiddich has become the first single malt scotch to sell a million 9-litre cases in a year.
The William Grant & Sons-owned Speyside malt sold 1.03 million cases in 2011, a 7.8% increase on 2010.
Glenfiddich's results will be published during July in Drinks International's The Millionaires' Club 2012 supplement - the definitive list of the world’s largest spirits and liqueurs brands, compiled by Euromonitor International.
Glenfiddich came 165th in the 179-brand list and - having sold 950,000 in 2010, 800,000 in 2009, 850,000 in 2008 and 880,000 in 2007 – made its debut this year.
The second highest selling single malt scotch is The Glenlivet, which achieved 718,000 case sales during 2010-2011.
