Château Haut Gléon majors on wines made from Carignan, Grenache Noir, Syrah and Aramon grapes.

According to Les Vignobles Foncalieu, “it has long been one of the most iconic winemaking estates in the Corbières appellation”.

A statement from Les Vignobles Foncalieu read: “With this new acquisition Les Vignobles Foncalieu continues its expansion into the luxury wine sector, with a prestigious new landmark estate which will be perfect for entertaining clients.

“The Château is equipped with a vault and various reception rooms and guest rooms: the plan is to develop the estate as a wine tourism destination.”

One hundred acres of the 650 acre, mainly woodland, estate is under vines.

Foncalieu president Michel Bataille has also committed to maintaining the “quality commitments” pioneered by the Duhamel family, which has run by the winery since 1991.

Les Vignobles Foncalieu sells around 20m bottles  a year from wine production in regions such as Languedoc, Côtes du Rhône and Coteaux d’Aix en Provence. 

The sale price had not been communicated at time of publishing.
