Konik’s Tail to make homecoming

Konik’s Tail, the Polish-made, UK-headquartered vodka brand will launch in Poland next year.

The super-premium multi-grain vodka has, up to now, targeted the high-end on and off-trade in the UK - most recently in Leeds and Liverpool, following listings in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh – but will now look to expand into the country of its production.

Approximately 25 on-trade accounts will stock the vodka in Poland, while talks with US and Canadian distributors are also afoot.

The brand launched in London in late 2010 and has now achieved 600 listings, including Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Selfridges where it is priced at around £37.

Around 90% of the brand’s 4,000 9-litre case distribution is currently sold in London.

Owner Pleurat Shabani said the vodka had proved successful because of the flavour brought about by single distillation and the blend of spelt grain, golden rye and 'early winter' wheat.

He said: “In 99% of cases, bartenders are using Konik’s Tail in a Martini – because they don’t want to lose the flavour of the vodka.”
