Pernod Ricard extends ICAP support to Vietnam

Pernod Ricard CEO Pierre Pringuet was in Vietnam yesterday to sign a multi-partite agreement extending the International Center for Alcohol Policies’ (ICAP) pilot programme in its fight against drunk driving.

The agreement was also signed by Dr Dang Viet Dung, director of Da Nang City Department of Transport and standing vice chairman of the Da Nang City Traffic Safety Council.

The primary objective of the programme is to raise awareness and educate high-risk sections of the population (young drivers, truck drivers, etc.) about the dangers of alcohol consumption when driving. This was formalised by an agreement signed by local authorities, non-governmental organisations and Pernod Ricard, the official sponsor of this campaign. This initiative will be rolled out to seven major cities in Vietnam.

“We are immensely grateful to the many organisations that have come together with such goodwill to continue this public-private partnership to reduce harmful drinking. Events like this serve as testimonies to the impact of thoughtful cooperation between government agencies, NGOs and industry sponsors,” said Pringuet.
