The Tate launches gin and beer
Tate Britain and Tate Modern, London’s famous art galleries, have introduced its own gin and limited edition beers.
Tate Catering, which is part of Tate Enterprises, whose profits go to support the Tate, has teamed up with Sacred Spirits to produce a special edition ‘Tate London Dry Gin’. Each batch is said to be prepared in small quantities in the micro-distillery and has strong notes of cardamom, angelica and liquorice. It will cost £30.
The Tate’s exclusive range of beer will be labelled with art work inspired by the latest exhibitions held at the London galleries. The newest limited edition beer has been designed around Paul Klee’s art work at Tate Modern which will be exhibited from Oct 16. The wheat beer is brewed by London Fields and is made with British hops which produce spicy notes. The pilot series adds a citrus and marmalade taste and the method of fermenting brings out the fennel flavour in the yeast. Price: to be confirmed.
The Tate says it is committed to quality, service and sustainability in the food and drink served at its cafés and restaurants. Tate Catering has an active sustainability policy, sourcing the best produce possible and developing relationships with regional suppliers.
