Mangrove breaks stem to Coe Vintners

UK spirits specialist Mangrove has split from parent company Coe Vintners to create an independent firm, it has emerged.

Nick Gillett, managing director of the new limited company, told DI sister title OLN: “We have grown up and left home.  Mangrove has grown to a size where it needs dedicated time, resources and systems.”

Mangrove was set up by Gillett and group owner John Coe as the specialist spirits division of wine wholesaler Coe Vintners, distributing brands including Portobello Road gin, Louis Royer Cognac, Beluga vodka and Mozart chocolate liqueur.

Mangrove’s ownership is unchanged, but the move is designed to elliminate bureaucracy from the business so it can be more flexible and reactive. “It makes us more responsible for our own future,” Gillett told OLN.
