New Scotish distillery produces first spirit

New artisanal Scottish distillery, Arbikie, has produced its first spirit, a super-premium potato vodka.

The distillery is part of the Arbikie Highland Estate on Scotland’s Angus Coast and is owned by the Stirling family who grow the raw ingredients for distillation, distil the spirit and bottle on site.

Distributed in the UK by Gordon and MacPhail, the vodka is priced at £42 a bottle and will be available in major retail outlets.

In 2015 the family plan to release a gin and a whisky.

Iain Stirling, Arbikie commercial director, said: "Scotland is a small country but with a world class drinks industry. We saw a real opportunity to utilise Scotland’s acclaimed natural assets from its clear waters, rich crops and temperamental climate, alongside its renowned whisky heritage, to produce a new generation of exceptional quality spirits.

“Arbikie Vodka, ha a distinctive taste with the quality and passion of a whisky. We believe it will be a popular choice for discerning drinkers who are looking for exceptional quality and integrity of product.”
