Adnams reports £66m sales and £3.8m operating profit

The Suffolk brewer and distiller and retailer has reported sales of £66 million and a £3.8m operating profit, in its report and accounts for the 12 months to December 31, 2014.

Beer volumes were up nearly 10%, spirits up and its shops returned to profit, according to chairman Jonathan Adnams.

He said: “2014 was a strong year for Adnams. We recorded our highest ever brewing year, saw continued growth in sales of our spirits and achieved profitability within our shops.”

With beer up 9.7% and spirits up 37%, he reports the distillery has reached capacity and to that end it is being expanded with two further pot stills and extra storage tanks. The enlarged distillery should be operational by January.
