Reh Kendermann buys share in Yapp Brothers

Reh Kendermann has announced that it has taken a share in Yapp Brothers, one of the leading importers of French wines in England, effective from now.

The German wine producer says it is expanding its business portfolio in England and this partnership offers new possibilities in Germany as well as worldwide. The percentage share and price paid have not been disclosed.

Based in Bingen, Kendermann, is the largest exporter of premium branded wines from Germany, with its main brand, Black Tower, being one of the best-selling wines from Germany.

Reh Kendermann managing director Alexander Rittlinger (pictured) said: “As an exporter, Great Britain is strategically a very important market for us.

“In addition to the off-trade, we will now also be increasingly represented in the on-trade, specialist retailers and the business thanks to this partnership.

“In this way, Reh Kendermann is creating a second route to market in addition to the off-trade in the UK. We are confident that access to French wineries will result in further opportunities in Germany and around the world,” said Rittlinger.

Yapp MD Jason Yapp said: “The partnership will enable us to build on our existing business and make it even more successful. It also provides the opportunity to strengthen the Yapp brand internationally.”

Yapp Brothers Limited was founded in 1969 and is based in Mere in Wiltshire. The company is recognised as the leading importer of French regional wines in the UK and is specialised in the Rhône, Loire, and Languedoc-Roussillon wines.

Yapp’s business comprises a retail shop, an online shop for private customers and a wholesale side with buyers from 350 of the best restaurants in the UK, including owners of more than 50 Michelin stars.

Reh Kendermann claims to be one of the most modern wineries in Germany, specialising in the production of premium branded and own label wines. The company is the largest exporter of branded wines from Germany, including Black Tower, as well as being a leading branded importer.
