McGuigan announces new wines

Australian winemaker Neil McGuigan has joined forces with Hunter Valley-born TV presenter and chef John Torode to create a Pinot Noir Rosé.

McGuigan and Torode said they took a risk on the second in the MT collaboration series and have created an “everyday wine for everyone.”

Torode added: “Rosé has no pretension. It is perfect for brunch and really does go with everything. Rosé is the future.”

Pinot Noir Rosé will be available from June in the UK at a RRP of £10.

McGuigan also announced the UK launch of three other wines as part of the Founders Reserve series to “engage with the growing demand for premium, regional wines.”

The new Founder’s Series will sit at a new price point for the brand, £10.99. It is aligned with market trends that demonstrate growth in the £10 plus price category, according to McGuigan.

Talking about the high price point, Neil McGuigan stressed: “We need to take the consumer on wine journey.” He added: “We have created a trio of champion wines from three of the best wine-making regions in Australia, and we’ve selected the parcels of fruit that best exhibit the wines’ individuality and character of their respective regions.”

The McGuigan Founder’s Series Shiraz and Chardonnay are available from late June in Sainsbury’s for £10.99 per bottle. The range champions three of Australia’s wine-making regions - Barossa Valley Shiraz, Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and Adelaide Hills Chardonnay – which in turn pay homage to the label’s founder, Brian McGuigan.
