Toon Blij steps down from Dutch Spirits

Dutch distiller, Dutch Spirits, has announced the retirement of founder and owner Toon Blij from his role as CEO who will be replaced by Andy Mallows, former managing director.

Since owner Blij bought Toorank from Metaxa in 1990, the business has grown internationally, trading in 50 markets worldwide, and is known for its spirits.

The company produces liquid for its own premium brands, such as Sloane’s Premium Dry Gin, as well as third party and private label brands.

“It is with a heavy heart that we see Toon move on from the business – he has been a true mentor and father figure within the business and I will have a big job to fill his shoes,” said now CEO Andy Mallows.

"Thanks to Toon, we are on route to becoming the biggest Dutch distilling group - we will miss him but are pleased he'll continue to advise at board level.”
