Caorunn leads Scottish gin sales

Caorunn has become the number one super premium gin brand in Scotland for the off-trade and hopes to lead the category in five years’ time.

The Scottish gin brand recently released a new bottle shape, allowing it to fit in speed rails behind bars and respected bartender, Tristan Stephenson has been a long time supporter of the brand.

Ibolya Bakos-Tonner, Caorunn global brand manager (pictured), said: “In the off-premise channel, in the super premium category, Caorunn is number one in volume in the 700ml pack size ahead of Hendricks.”

The ‘gin boom’ has increased the sales of gin across the UK over the past five years and there are now 24 gin distilleries in London alone.

Bakos-Tonner added: “The category has also seen an increased demand in small-batch, artisanal products which we have seen reflected in our sales figures.

“Sales of Caorunn have tripled from 2014 to 2017, which demonstrates the consumer demand for our hand-crafted products. As such, in five years’ time, Caorunn sees itself placed amongst super premium craft gin brands, leading the way in the category.”

Stephenson has led a variety of activations for the release of Caorunn’s new bottle launch and created a series of cocktails to match Caorunn’s flavours and botanicals.

Stephenson added: “The new shape plays on all the positive aspects of the original bottle, most importantly the five-sided shape.

“But being longer, and slenderer, it means it fits into a speed rail behind the bar, making it quick and easy for bartenders to recommend and pour. There’s still real weight to the bottle, which reaffirms the premium quality of the liquid.

“The spirit is vapourised through the world's only working Copper Berry Chamber, where it slowly rises through the chamber, allowing the vapours to be saturated with the aromas and flavours of the botanicals.”
