Berry Bros. & Rudd brings Israeli wines to UK

Fields, Morris & Verdin has added Israeli winery Recanati to its producer portfolio.

FMV (Fields, Morris & Verdin) is the trade arm of Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain’s oldest wine and spirits merchant, importing and distributing wines and spirits across the UK.

Noam Jacoby, CEO of Recanati said: “We have been looking for a partner in the UK for a long time. Working with Berry Bros. & Rudd is a dream for us and it is a great honor to be accepted to the family and be included in the world class supplier list.”

Founded in 2000 by Lenny Recanati and Uri Shaked, Recanati produces local wines at its modern winery in the Hefer valley in upper Galilee.

The wines are produced by winemaker Gil Shatsberg, assisted by Kobi Arviv who joined the winery in 2011.

Katherine Dart MW and wine buyer at Berry Bros. & Rudd added: “With vineyards located in the Upper Galilee, their high altitude produces Mediterranean wines with pure varietal character and freshness.

“Recanati is the first winery in Israel to restore 1,000-year-old indigenous varieties, Marawi and Bittuni, in the Judean Hills. These wines are a unique expression of this ancient winemaking region and they make an exciting edition to the portfolio.”
