Bordeaux Wine Festival Liverpool returns with new sommelier competition

Bordeaux Wine Festival Liverpool is set to host its second edition this May with a new Bordeaux sommelier competition.

From 31 May to 2 June, Liverpool’s wine show will host eight different wine pavilions, where guests will be able to taste hundreds of Bordeaux wines from across the region.

Visitors will also be able to meet a variety of winemakers and one pavilion will be dedicated to 'Everyday Bordeaux' wines, blind-tasted by a UK panel of judges made up of educators, journalists, Masters of Wine and Bordeaux retail buyers.

All wines in the Every Bordeaux pavilion will be priced from £6-20 and are currently available to purchase in the UK.

BORDEAUX SOMMELIER OF THE YEAR

The show’s new Bordeaux Sommelier of the Year competition, judged by master sommeliers Ronan Sayburn and Nigel Wilkinson, invites sommeliers to show off their food and Bordeaux pairing skills.

Shortlisted sommeliers will be invited to live semi-finals, held on Liverpool’s waterfront on 14 May, with the final taking place at the festival in June.

The overall winner will receive a £1,000 prize, a Bordeaux vineyard experience and a set of Riedel glassware and decanter.
