Russian Standard to sponsor Sky Movies

01 December, 2009

UK: Russian Standard vodka has signed a sponsorship deal with Sky Movies.

The vodka is to sponsor Sky Movies Box Office and Sky Movies Indie.

The six month deal will see Russian Standard on screen from December and is the first ever TV sponsorship undertaken by the brand.

As well as being on screen, the vodka which is in the First Drinks portfolio in the UK, will also be featured online, on Sky Text and in the Sky Movies magazine, which has a circulation of 3.5 million readers. It follows the brand’s summer marketing drive, Meet the Russian Standard.

A 60 second Russian Standard ad will be screened in 46,000 pubs, clubs and other commercial premises across the UK through the Sky Pub Channel.  A number of screenings will also be shown during prime time football matches.

Viewers can use their remote control to learn more about the vodka, view special offers on screen, enter competitions and read a visitors guide to Moscow.

Joanne Birkitt, senior brand manager for Russian Standard, said: “This sponsorship deal is a massive move for us with huge investment being pumped in to the brand to take us well in to the first half of 2010.

“Sponsoring Sky Movies will really help us engage with our target consumers and help build brand loyalty.  Having seen us on cinema screens in the summer as part of our £2.3 million Meet the Russian Standard campaign, this is a natural move to re-capture and build relationships with our drinkers, who we know are interested in film, fashion and music.

According to First Drinks, the brand is worth over £56 million across the on and off-trades.

Russian Standard has plans for further investment in the trade in 2010.
