The economic downturn could restore balance in Cognac, according to Courvoisier president and master blender Jean-Marc Olivier.
He said: “We know that the performance of the Cognac category is linked with the health of economy.
“We have had a fantastic period of time since 2000, with fantastic growth for Cognac and consequently there were some problems of supply for some companies. Now the economy is declining, it's a normal cycle, and the situation of the stock will shortly reach a balance.”
Jean-Marc also said that climate change means the harvest gets earlier every year, and it is a full two weeks earlier than it was twenty years ago.
Courvoisier is celebrating the launch of the 2009 Future 500 list, a members’ network of 500 rising stars in the UK.
