Ardbeg Supernova contains peat levels that exceed 100 parts per million – 40% more peaty than Ardbeg 10 year old. The whisky is bottled at 58.9% and non chill-filtered to allow the peaty characteristic to be present.
Dr Bill Lumsden, head distiller, said: “For the creation of Ardbeg Supernova, we analysed and tasted a wide range of stock from throughout our maturing stock profile, including some very old stock and some very young stock. We were looing for something that would deliver an incredibly peaty, smoky flavour.”
Limited quantities of Ardbeg Supernova will be available from 15 April, priced £79.99.
