Hennessy goes for Gold

UK: Hennessy will mark 54 years of continuous partnership - British racing’s longest commercial sponsorship - at this year’s Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury Racecourse on November 27.

To mark the occasion, Hennessy is  to bring back the 100-year-old classic race day cocktail The Gold Cup Horse’s Neck. It compirses Hennessy Fine de Cognac with ginger ale and orange zest and it was first created in 1910 when cognac was added to the original teetotaller’s version to “improve the taste”.  The Gold Cup Horse’s Neck will be available in selected bars around the racecourse during the day.

Leanne Banks, marketing manager for Hennessy, said: “The Hennessy Gold Cup has been the highlight of the winter social season since its inception in 1957. It signals the official start of the Christmas cocktail party season, attracting the crème de la crème of the horseracing world and British society, such as Rosamund Pike, Jasmine Guinness, Salman Rushdie, James Blunt and, of course, members of the Royal Family.“
