Glenmorangie launches £2500 whisky

The Glenmorangie Company has released a £2,500 whisky matured in Chateau d’Yquem sauternes casks.

Glenmorangie Pride 1981 is a 28-year old whisky matured in oak casks for 18 years and ex-sauternes casks for ten years.

There are only 1000 bottles and the whisky has been bottled at cask strength – 56.7%abv.

Glenmorangie’s head of distilling and whisky creation Dr Bill Lumsden said: “This is the first super premium Glenmorangie for many years.

“Pride is the result of a series of experiments and I think sauternes casks work very well with the flavour profile of Glenmorangie.”

The package is a collaboration between French designer Laurence Brabant, who designed the barrique-style Baccarat crystal decanter, and a Dutch furniture designer Wouter Scheublin who designed the box.

Lumsden said the product would go to Glenmorangie’s key markets which include UK, US, Germany, France, Taiwan, Japan and China.

The Glenmorangie Company is part of Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH).
