Peter F. Heering Sling Awards announces winner

Danish bartender Nick Kobbernagel Hovind was named global winner of the Peter F. Heering Sling Awards at the Ritz Carlton, Berlin.

Five global finalists who hailed from five different countries served their own take on the Sling to the six judges including cocktail historian, David Wondrich and David Rosengarten of Forbes Magazine.

Nick Kobbernagel Hovind impressed judges with his Sloe Sling to take home the title, €500 prize and silver Stelton Shaker.

The Peter F. Heering Sling Award has grown from 27 participating countries last year to 44 participating Sling-inspired countries.

Adéle Robberstad, Peter F. Heering CEO said: “The creativity that these bartenders put into their Sling cocktail creations, has raised the standard for what a Sling can be and how truly fashionable the Cherry Heering brand is and always will be.

“The global participation was flattering considering the volume of cocktail competitions around the world, though we look at the Sling Awards as more than just a competition, we see it as an opportunity to honor one of the most classic cocktails of all-time with a Cherry Heering on top,” Robberstad said.

The four other global finalists were Taoufike Zrafi, Canada; Sigrid Sarv, Estonia; Canada’s Christian Lobrino Manzanillo and Jon Krau, USA.
