Advini buys Lapalu family estates
Antoine Moueix Properties, a subsidiary of the major French wine producer Advini, has announced the purchase of approximately 400 hectares of vineyards on both the right and left banks of Bordeaux.
The statement says the company has bought all the shares from the Lapalu family in Château Patache d’Aux, a 76 ha Médoc Cru Bourgeois estate, Château Liversan, a Haut Médoc Cru Bourgeois and other Crus Bourgeois, representing a surface area of 250 hectares of vineyards in the Médoc and Haut Médoc.
The company says full acquisition of the left bank estates means that Antoine Moueix Propriétés, Advini’s Bordeaux-based subsidiary, means it has a varied and quality range of wines from some 12 estates, with the appellations Bordeaux-Bordeaux Supérieur, Saint-Émilion GC, Medoc and Haut-Medoc (including nine Crus Bourgeois).
A. Moueix Propriétés director, Thibaut de la Haye said:“This acquisition means that we now represent 7% of the Crus Bourgeois, which is a major quality indicator for us commercially speaking and for the general reputation of all our wines – and this is why we want to get actively involved in this marketing activity, but from our position of wine-makers defending the production of quality wines for our consumers, rather than as a winemaking group simply making an investment.”
