Royal Salute launches 52 Year Old Single Cask Finish

Royal Salute has launched one of its most exclusive whiskies to date with an RRP $30,000 to international markets.

The Time Series 52 Year Old Single Cask Finish spent the final 14 years of its maturation in a single cask under Hyslop’s watch and the product is expected to sell out before Christmas.

“It’s a personal privilege to create such an outstanding whisky for Royal Salute,” said Hyslop. “The longer the whisky matures, the more intricate it becomes and with 52 years of ageing, the delicate balance of some of the rarest of our whiskies, has created an unrivalled depth of flavour and unbelievably complex characteristic, making for a remarkable expression that perfectly shows that time is a key element of our creations.

“For so long I feel like our marketing team has been particularly modest about the Royal Salute brand. It is the oldest brand in the world which has been ageing whisky for a minimum of 21 years and it’s only in recent times that we’ve been bringing out new expressions.”

Earlier this year Royal Salute launched two new expressions: The Malts Blend and The Lost Blend and the Pernod Ricard whisky rebranded its signature 21 year old in one of the biggest moves in its history.

The Time Series 52 Year Old Single Cask Finish is the latest innovation from the brand and the nose is said to be “intensely fruity on the nose, with notes of ripe plum, toffee red apples and dark chocolate covered hazelnuts.”

On the palate, the whisky is described as “sweet orange marmalade with a hint of ginger and scented cloves with soft ripe pears in syrup and a touch of liquorice.”

The whisky is bottled in hand-blown Dartington Crystal decanters and just 106 have been made available in selected markets around the world.
