Lillet Rosé makes UK bow

Maison Lillet has released Lillet Rosé to the UK, its first apéritif launch in the market for 50 years.

The Bordeaux producer said the fortified wine “has already taken the US by storm” and is hoping to capitalise on the UK consumer’s predilection for the rosé style.

Lillet Rosé, which is priced at £20 and has an abv of 17%, is created from blending the red and white Grand Cru Bordeaux wine varietals used to produce Lillet Blanc and Lillet Rouge.

UK distributor, Marblehead Brand Development, recommends serving the drink well-chilled, over ice or in summer cocktails.

Dave Steward, Marblehead’s business development director, said: “As part of Marblehead’s philosophy of unearthing treasures from the world of fine wine and spirits, we are delighted to be able to introduce Lillet Rosé to the UK market.

“Lillet Blanc and Lillet Rouge have filled a niche and are already very well respected in the trade, so we’re looking forward to a similar success story for Lillet Rosé.”

The fortified wine will launch in the off-trade in Harvey Nichols and will be available in selected Majestic stores throughout the UK.

In the on-trade, Marblehead has targeted high-end bars and restaurants, with the likes of The Dorchester, Coq d’Argent, Club Gascon and Baltic all stocking the brand.
